It seems that clear lens on the front side is a 1156 and only lights when the turn signal is flashing. But it doesn't flash(just a steady light).

The amber lens above the clear is a 168(GM manual) or 194 will work. It burns at all times when the lights are on, even when the parking lights are on. Now get this, when I pulled the bulbs(1st time they have been out) and put them back in they now flash with the turn signal.

So when you turn the turn signals on(either left or right) you are suppose to have the amber lens flashing and the clear lens on(but not flashing) on the chosen side.

When lights are on only the amber lens lights.

Hope this helps it's just a little screwy.

Thanks for the update and glad you got them all working right.

Yeah, you were right but with so many guys saying otherwise, it had me wondering.

Couldn't believe GM would design a car in 1982 with no front side markers and guess they didn't.

Wow - I'm going to try pulling my bulb out and putting it back to see if mine start working properly. How strange that so many would be having this issue on '82s. I orignally though it was kind of a dumb question but now 'm glad I brought it up.

Me Too. Sorry about the confusion at first. I got to thinking about it after I posted and knew it didn't make sense.

Also seems strange they would pass safety inspection if they have issues like that. Though I know many inspectors are lax on older cars. My vette won't fit in the bay at the place I use (too low). So it just gets a more cursory check.
