Default Torque Converter Help...

I am putting a new 290HP, 350 motor in my 81. I am not reinstalling the computer so I also have a new distributor and new carb. that will allow me to get rid of the computer. My question: I also want to replace the lock up converter with a new one.I can get a B16-CEE 1600 stall for $175.00 or a B16-CBD 1800 stall for 185.00. They are from Monster Transmission. Can someone recommend one of these for my new motor, I do not know anything about the tranny or converter. Thank you.

I don't know anything about the brand name of those converters but the prices are low. Of the two, I would pick the 1800 rpm unit. You will notice no difference from the stock converter in normal driving, but it will help in off-the-line acceleration, if that matters to you.

BKbroiler,
Thank you for your help. I am going to look into the 1800 like you said. I want to check out Monster Transmission because I have never heard of them before. Thanks again, have a great weekend.

You want atleast an 1800 RPM stall converter. which is stock, with that crate engine. The converter stall speed needs to compliment the cam, and yours is relatively mild. Also check out Bow Tie Overdrives.
