Is there any way to obtain a correct rear wheel alignment myself on a 1981 corvette, (excluding a alignment shop which I dont trust) inc. trailing arm shims. This is a drag car only. Thanks for your help.
rear toe-in is the only hard part, because it's impossible(or at least very difficult) to get a center line on the frame and set the toe to that. that's what the computerized alignment machines can do for you.
i struck a deal with a local shop that allowed me to bring the car in several times to check the results of the changes that i made. after 4 trips, i got the numbers that i wanted.
question-why don't you trust aligment shops? if you had a poor experience with one, go to another. there's hundreds of them.
i did mine because nobody wanted to do it-it takes the tech too long to do a 4 wheel on an old vette.
