Default Opinion on sidepipes

I wanted to get your guys opinions on these sidepipes. Stay away and just buy Hookers?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/68-82...mZ180294950245

and then he has a link from there for a "kit" to hook up to existing exhaust. Is this to hook sidepipes up to stock manifolds???

I love side pipes for the look and sound, not because they increase HP like this guy claims. Get Hookers or bone stock ones if you chose to do it (like I did, Hookers that is).

Look better on a mid year. Has an "old school" Thrush sidepipe look to it (which I never cared for anyway). /:\

I'll vote for the Hooker's. Is it me or do they hang down below the rockers and really limit ground clearence?

They're junk. JC Whitney crap. Get Hookers or '69 factory originals.

Ditto..... they look and fit like Crap !
Pass on them and go for Hookers for Performance,
or the stock looking pipes and covers.

Nothing beat's a pair of Hookers ! you can even run them to your stock manifolds, three are blocked off and one is piped . I recomend intalling a flex. stainless steel braided ! no movement and less wear on the mounts. { my 2 cents}

Default Go for the 69 originals

Personally, I prefer the 69 pipes. They stick out less and offer much less leg burning potential. Ouch!

???????

Makes about as much sense as mounting the pipes to the side for looks and leaving the stock exhaust in.

I know this forum is partial to the Hooker sidepipes. I had a set on my 68 BB Roadster. Yes, they look tough and sound is killer. I kept burning plug wires until I dimpled a tube. The tubes were too big for 427 low end torque. Now I have quality hedmans, 2 1/2 pipes, turbos with chrome tips out the back. Just about perfect with the jet-black paint.

Default Don't buy them

Don't buy the pipes you showed on ebay . They mount under the rockers and sit too low. They will drag on almost everything, and those hookup pipe kits will not work. Invest your money in a good set of pipes.

You must mean those "Hooker" look alike pipes (Patriot ?), because Real Hookers are headers and dont use the stock exaust manifolds. I'd vote for the Hookers with a jet-hot coating or something that wont rust, blue, tarnish ? Peace,,,Moosie

Yes, but you get rid of the "y" pipe and allow better breathing and no more cat. a lot less wait. and then you can add the headers over the winter.....

But of course you'r right to some degree

thanks
