I have a 1980 Corvette and I just put a new battery in it a few weeks ago. The problem is it will not hold a charge more than 24 hours. Any suggestions?
Charge the battery totally outside of the car or disconnected, and test it to make sure the charge doesn't fall on it's own. Batteries can lose a charge on their own if they are malfunctioning.
If it holds the charge on it's own for at least 24 hours, then connect it back to the car. Then, remove the alternator, take it to a local specialty shop that works on alternators and starters, and have them test it.
If it's bad, have them rebuild it. If it's good, go back, install it, and use this paper to find your draw.
Is your interior light auto-dimmer working properly? Lots of folks have the same problem due to the dimmer module failing with an internal "short". Disconnect the module and see if it stays charged.
