Need some specific info. I recently purchased my first Corvette, a '68 convertible that needs a little inside-the-door work (window alignment, lock not working, felt/whisker bars loose) and before I pull it apart, I was wondering if there is supposed to be a rubber seal piece on the outside of the window. There is a rubber seal piece on the inside of the door, between the inside window felts and the frame, which seals between the door panel and the window channel. It seems like there should be a similar seal on the outside, which would "wipe" the window when it was raised or lowered, and seal out water & debris. I ordered something called "outer window lower seals" from a catalog, and they sent me the felts, which I already have, and though they are a little loose, they are in good shape. It just seems like water is going to get into the door if I ever drive her in the rain. Can anyone give me any info/suggestions? Parts and where to purchase?

You've got it my man, the felts are the window seals on the 68 one pair does the door
The seals , or the whiskers in the case of the 68 will only keep debris like leaves etc. out. Nothing will keep the water out. It is supposed to drain out of the holes in the bottom of the door. All cars are made this way.

My 68 came with rubber seals on the outside of the window. Water running down the window (on the outside) would be deflected to run down the door. By the mid 1970's the seals had disintegrated due to sun/smog. They were no longer in stock. I replaced them with felt type seals mentioned above. I always wondered why someone never repro'd these rubber seals since they seem like such usefuls things to have.

I should mention that these are the rubber wiper only. You need to purchase whisker separately.
