while out driving other day i was hitting brakes pretty hard to see how they stop and noticed they are no where near as good as a modern car. they are pretty new. i dont even know if i could lock the wheels up and didnt notice the front end diving like a newer car. is this normal for a 72 BB? how are yours?
I have a 72, but not a BB. Mine will lock up. I know this from experience as a Yukon turned left right in front of me! They worked perfect.
You may have some air in the system even if the brake pedal does not feel spongy. I have found that gravity bleading the brakes followed by the standard pedal pump bleed works great. It has never let me down.

You can get vacuum brakes on these cars to lock the wheels but I agree I have never been happy with vacuum brakes. That's why I decided to change the booster out to a Hydrobooster, and I have never had a second thought about it since except to be amazed at how much better everything feels.
