Default What's this 70 worth??

Ok, today driving down a road I spot a 70 t-top with an LT1 hood. here's the scoop. # Matching 350 350 hp. Not an LT1. 4sp, tilt/telescopic, leather, engine rebuilt. Some documentation including all 2 owners, dealership that sold the car, and some paperwork. No tank sheet. Needs paint but never hit body. Interior clean. Original paint all cracking. Tough market but nice car. Any thoughts?

Hi DD,
You give some good information and description.
But... with out some pictures, and a report on the frame and birdcage, any figure is an UNeducated guess.
Maybe more than $5000.00 and maybe less than $25,000.00.
What's she look like?
Regards,
Alan

Todays economy and needing paint, $10k is a ballpark.

The 70 is a great model. Limit production because of the strike that year, but the cars were well built. From your discription, I would say also $10,000 or less.

My be a little prejudiced here but, 10K for a 70 L-46??? Guess an LT1 in the same condition should be around 15-20K.

Funny how in the for sale section there's never a 70 of any kind under 20K.
Must be me

I have to agree, show me a nice numbers matching L46 with a good frame and birdcage only needing paint for $10k and I will buy 10 of them! I would say $15-18k if in good condition needing paint.

That's what I was thinking. I don't have any pics but the owner says the car is rust free. So basically it needs to be stripped and painted. I thought the 350hp engine along with tilt and leather interior would make it desirable. Not too fond of the burgundy or maroon color but it's not too bad. Guess I could get used to it. What color is that called in 70?

yea, reading some of these posts I thought I was missing something, and i am usually one of those guys here who regularly thinks some estimate way too high, but 10k or less for a 70 sb is really kinda low........I was going to guess the 14-18 range.........question though, is the drivetrain original and why no tank sticker? Was the tank changed because it was *** ended?

The car has never been hit. It was checked over by a corvette restoration shop who also agreed it is a no hit body. Sat for over 20 years so the tank was removed to remove old gas. Tank sheet was no good. All in dirty pieces.

If it's solid and original and just needs paint,on a no hit body, i'd buy them all day for 10k. I'd say around 15k.

17K isn't to bad for #'s matching & rust free frame & birdcage, but you should verify this yourself.
The color is called Marlboro Maroon, Actually a very nice color. There was a thread a week or two ago requesting pics of this color. Let us know what you decide.
Keep in mind 8-10 k for paint.

Just for color purposes, here's a couple of pics of my recent purchase, a Marlboro Maroon '70 L46 'Vert.

Dennis, without seeing any pics, we really do not know the condition, other than the description provided, and that is an opinion. I believe the premium for an LT1 is more than $5K over an L46. Good luck finding that deal.

No legible tank sticker, needs paint, wrong hood, rebuilt engine (who built it?). What is it worth finished? $30k? You spend $16k for the car and $8k for paint; couple thousand more for bumpers and misc.-pretty soon you are upside down. It's a buyers market right now. It might be WORTH $14-18k, but not today IMHO. Don't pay a premium if you don't have to.... Depends on how bad you want it, is the rest truly nice, looking for a deal/looking for this car, etc. etc.
