No couldn't feel any bolts from the front of the fan (facing radiator). How do you get these off? Is it as simple as sticking a socket in between the blades or do I need to take the fan cover off?

there should be nuts holding the fan on. there on the small round part of the fan where blades are attatched. right in front.

there are 4 studs that stick out of the water pump shaft wheel, that go through the W/P pulley and hold on the fan with 4 nuts. Remove these nuts, and carefully remove the fan. do not nick the radiator. You remove them with a open end box wrench, as space allows.

Wow I feel utterly stupid now! Thought you meant facing radiator because I tried those but the whole thing moved so I figured that wasn't it. I guess I need to keep that thing from moving somehow while I take the bolts off... Thanks though guys I was really lost there and this helps tremendously.

All right.. To get the water pump out do I have to disconnect all the brackets holding up the AC and the Alternator? It looks like some of the same bolts are used but not sure.. Thanks for pic RunningMan.

No problem, you use your other hand to grip the pulley across it, to keep it from moving, while you break the bolts. You should be able to fit the closed end of the box end wrench onto the nuts, allowing for more torque application w/o stripping the nuts, then just remove them with the open end.

I don't remember which brackets have to be removed exactly, did the job last year, but, if you study the front of the engine, it will become pretty obvious what is going to need removal. don't forget to drain the radiator first. C.

This pump's been leaking for so long I'm not sure how much is actually left in the radiator. Probably enough to cover myself if I forget to drain it so thanks for the reminder

Drain the radiator first. If the car isn't overheating, it still has most of it's coolant. If your radiator doesn't have a drain-**** fitting, just remove the lower hose from the radiator [with a bucket underneath].

1-remove everything attached to water pump
2-remove water pump
3-re-assembly is reverse of dis-assembly
Before returning your old pump, make sure the new one has the studs for the fan,if not you'll have to reuse the old ones. They can be removed by using two of the nuts jammed together on a stud.I always put a thin coat of silicone on the gaskets to help seal it up and to hold them in place when getting the pump into position.
While you're at it replace all the belts and hoses, its a lot easier now than at the side of the road later...

Make sure you mark all bolt's,washer's and spacer's ,lay them out as you remove them on a piece of card board - clockwise and use lock-tight when replacing the pully/fan nut's

It is easier to remove the fan blade before you remove the belts.

You can also use 2 wrenches. Use one on of the nuts, to hold the fan still while using the second one to remove one of the other nuts.

Some of the parts transfer over to the new water pump. The four little bolts that held the fan on they transfer over, the Inlet And outlet on the Heater hoses They Im pretty sure transfer over.So dont get rid of the old one just yet.I always keep my old parts I just Hang them on the wall of the garage I store My car in.
