Been gone for the last 6 weeks and went out to the shop the other day to check on the vette. Had finished installing the new interior and carpet before I left. Opened the door, sat down and fired it up. Was enjoying the new leather smell inside when I started to get a faint whiff of something rotten. Started sniffing around and never could locate the smell just got a faint whiff of it everynow and then. Decided I would put the windshield wipers back on since the new windshield was installed. Opened the hood and the whiff turned into el stinko, still couldnt find it. Finally got the floodlight out and looked down into the recess that runs between the fender and firewall from the ww bay and pulled the leaf mesh out of the way and saw a little pile of my new carpet jute (mice nest) and that set me off. Went and got the extendable claw thingy and ran down in there and started snatching it all out. Last thing to come out was a big, dead chipmunk.... I have seen mice get into cars but chipmunks? And it hasnt even turned cold yet. Going to get the mothballs out this weekend....
Dryier sheets are suppose to work also. I have no personal expierence but a friend started using them and no more "little friends". It might be worth a try.
Before I bought my 81 I went and looked at a 73, car looked great , the inside was all new what I could see though the glass just need a few things like paint, and all he wanted was $2000 well it was all good till he opened the door for me, as I was getting in he said (there is a smell in the car and its not to bad) I nearly puked the smell was so bad I jump out of the car and ask him what it was turns out some squirrels got in there over the winter and died and rotted. I didn’t buy the car.

We have used dryer sheets in our campers for years and have never had a problem, others 2 sites away used nothing and had mice. Sheets don't smell as bad as moth *****.
try going down and having it steam cleaned. those wands can blow out anything. you might check the back too. the rest of the family is probably back there.
I have also heard that Irish Spring soap works as well, so I used it and haven't seen a furry freak since. I just grabbed a used bar and shaved it into slivers then spread it around the garage. Also rumored that Eucalyptus oil works too, put a few drops on a rag and place in car/engine bay...plus it beats the hell out of the mothball stench.
oh yeah chipmuks definately! i just pulled a nut out of my air cleaner yesterday. thats just the start im afraid. moth ***** work REAL well but they melt and then your car smells like a mourge. the dryer sheet deal works too.
