Hey guys, I have a few questions for you C3 owners. I've been a big fan of corvettes my entire life and currently have an '04 LeMans Convertible that I love to death. I've come to a point now that I've done everything I want to it, and with my parents 35th anniversary coming up in a few years, so I thought I'd pay back my father for everything he's done for me. So with that, I recently got promoted in the Navy and am looking for a new project to restore and rebuild for him as an anniversary present. I've always loved the C3's and have recently been looking at buying one, but I'm completely a noob to them, so I'm posting here for some help. My buddy just purchased a '78 for a great deal but I think I want to go for more like a '73 I think. Can you guys give me any links to educate myself? I'm not looking to buy a restored car but something my dad and I can work on and suprise him with. Thanks in advance for a new guy to the C3 world, I'm looking forward to getting involved with you guys!
Came across a 78 Silver Anniversary, 350, auto trans, Silver over gray,
Lt gray leather interior. I think he said less than 80k on the odo.
paint needs a buff and tires probably need replacing due to age.
He said he'd take 11,5 for it.
I would say buy as much Vette as you can, since restoring a Classic car gets costly very quick. Just check out some of the C3 part prices and you will get an idea.
1973 is also going to cost more being a bumper car then a later year C3.
I didn't check to see what I had when I brought mine home. It was smacked in the front and the previous owner told me all the parts for the headlights were in a box. What he MEANT to say was, all the parts THAT HE HAD were in a box. Quite a few pieces were missing/broken. It's taken alot of fabrication and purchasing to the tune of about $600 just to get them to work. (and I made some of the stuff I was missing) If all the stuff for the headlights isn't there, you could easily spend over $1,000 getting your headlights to turn on! Just food for thought. Get a complete car. As was stated, if there are pieces missing/damaged, it'll cost ya' to get them replaced.
