Well guys I started disassembling the car today to get it ready for stripping on monday. I removed all the chrome pieces on the exterior except the front bumper. Its being soda blasted on monday, and then a week from monday the car is going up to New York for paint. This car is my high school challenge project. And boy has it been a project,we have owned it a little over two years. Today was the first time i have ever driven the car.

68 big blocks are good The car looks like a worthy project. I see you have the second design door panels. Have fun and show us some pics after you get it painted.
Well, having it painted will make a BIG difference. Thanks for all the pictures. Why is it going all the way to New York for paint? What was it like finally getting to drive it?
Regards,
Alan

Its going to New York as the guy who is doing it did our friends 1967 coupe and that paint job is absolutely flawless and his car is a show car. It was quite nerve racking for driving it for the first time as i have never driven a car with that much power and a car with manual brakes. So it was a lot different then what i expected. But, hey its getting their i will take pictures after it is soda blasted, and once it gets to the Painters up in New York.

Looks nice! You might want to consider losing the gill inserts after new paint. They were not an option in 68, but became optional in 69, so of course many 68 owners installed them and many 68s have worn them for a long time, but they weren't original equipment.

This car is an August 1968 corvette so possibly it could have been instaled by the factory. I'm not sure i will research it further.
Well here comes an update with a bunch of pictures of the body work being done to the car. The painters called this past week and said they were going to start shooting the door jambs and all the car will be painted soon and be back home!!!
