Purchase the '69 assembly instruction manual (AIM). The AIM shows the factory installation of the various door opening and locking rods.

If the interior door opening handle will not open the door, the rod may be disconnected or bent. If the handle appears to open the door, but the door is sticking, the latch mechanism might need a good cleaning and lube.

Pull the door panel off and you'll see how everything works and what isn't.
Don't forget to remove the 4 panel clip screws on the door edges. You'll need to hold the inside door handle in the open position to access the screw so you can pull it off, and you'll also need the retaining clip tool to remove the window crank and lock **** clips.
