A little progress...
[/IMG]I've made a bit of progress since then. Here's what was under the masking tape hood... it's a 400hp (flywheel)/355. Edelbrock heads,
cam, manifold, carb... the aircleaner and valve covers I powdercoated and masked the fin tops... those are '81 gas lid emblems
on the air cleaner top.

[/IMG]Here's the car as it sits today. L-88 hood, flares and front and
rear clips molded in. Sorry for the poor pic but I work in a
single car garage and it was a frosty 20 degrees today.

[/IMG]My wheels and tires got here (finally) over Thanksgiving
weekend. They are Budnik Shotgun wheels, tires are Michelin
Pilot Sports. Tire sizes are 335/30 X 18 rear and
275/35 X 18 front. Wheels are 12 X 18 and 12 X 9.

[/IMG]The interior is completely unfinished, no carpet, no seats, no dash, etc. The game plan is to have it streetable by May 1, in time for a local cruise-in/show.
By the way db (Matt) is doing a little custom work on a gas cap for me that I think will be unlike anything else out there once I get it and get a chance to finish it up.
Need to acknowledge Chris (69 MyWay) McDonald for his website on the flare install. It really eliminated the guesswork on the flare install and the tire/wheel fitment. I also got a lot of advise from the Corvette Forum Body/Paint section. If you haven't checked it out, the link is with the "stickies" at the top. There are some VERY knowledgeable people who have "been there and done that" on Vette bodywork/paint.
Happy holidays everyone and I think I'll have a few pieces to add to the Christmas swap in the very near future... (Anyone need a freshly painted air cleaner assembly for an '81?)

and yours rate at the top. I love the wide stance, and the color
is right on the money
. Any chance of better photos latter. One day I would like to flare my 74.
Thank for the post
Riggs.
I doubt I'll get a chance to get it outside before spring. We're about one low pressure system away from a lot of snow (due Wednesday night) and once it gets started it tends to stay around until March/April. Such is life in the 49th state!

Those sidepipes are "Sweet Thunder" brand sidepipes and I'd call them a bit closer to "loud" than mild. If I have a complaint about them it would be that since the inlets are 2 1/2" they are restrictive and that will likely knock down the hp.
Basically I wanted "factory-type" sidepipes and figured that the "Sweet Thunder" pipes might have less baffling in the pipe. (And based on the sound, I'd say I was right.)
My long range plan is to bend some 3" pipe to fit under the exhaust covers. Have seen it done on a couple of threads on this (and other) forums.
And thanks for the compliments... it's a long ways from done, but it's a long winter around here and I'm NOT a skier.... Hopefully Santa will drop a few necessary items soon....

I grabbed the chip book and found this Jeep color and we got on with it. By the way, the black pearl on the hood and sidepipe covers is also a Jeep color off the same paint chip page as the red.
If anyone wants the paint code just PM me and I'll stop by the paint booth and get it from the chip book.
And thanks for all the great comments.... they make it a whole bunch easier to keep polishing scratches out of the chrome and stainless pieces. The polishing I don't mind, but knocking
dents out of stainless window trim is not my favorite thing to do....kdlp
