Default Ignition shielding

I'm considering trying to clean up some of the clutter in the stock engine compartment of my 72 BB. One thing I am considering is tryiing to hide the plug wires (as suggusted in another thread). What I'm wondering is will the stock small block ignition shield verticals work with the stock BB ignition shield cover?

Has anyone on the forum done a similar modification and if so can you post a pic or two?

Thanks guys,

Ken

Possibly if the big block distributor can has weld nuts for the wing bolts on the verticals.

Why would you want to cover up those lovely braided big blick plug wires?

I'm not running braided wires at the moment I'm running Accel 8MM wires and they don't look bad. With all the vac lines, wires and emission lines I just was trying to come up with ways to spruce it up some.

Mike I'm not sure I understand the weld nuts reference. The ignition cover (is that the can?) attaches to the steel vertical brackets via wingnuts into weldnuts in the brackets.

Don't the vertical shields use a bracket at the bottom that holds the rubber spark plug wire separator and a wing nut from the shield itself. I'd think there be no hole in the block for the bolt that mounts these brackets in the rear of the large block motor. Something would have to rigged up to make the vertical shields usable.

Alan
