Default Starter 1108400 9J8

Pulled the starter out of our 67 Corvette since things are getting changed around and it is starter #1108400 with a build date of 9J8 (Sept.8,69) for a model year 1970. Chevrolet by the numbers list it for Corvette 454-manual transmission. Might have been used in other big block applications as well but not sure. What is a fair price to ask for this rascal. It worked just fine and was in the car when we purchased it 25+ years ago. Need to verify but would believe the solenoid is correct # for the starter as well.
thanks in advance,
Chick

With the above question can anyone tell me what other applications would have used this other than 69 and 70 Corvettes.

Hi Chick,
If you give John Pirkle a call , I believe he can tell you about the applications and value of your starter. 706-860-9047

.
Most cores are $10.00 and HD cores $20.00. All thats necessary to fit other models is at most to merely change the nose. .

That particular part number starter was used in a wide variety of GM big block vehicles that had the starter on the passenger side beginning around 1966 sometime and continuing until around 1977-1979. Most Pontiacs have the starter on the driver's side, and therefore have a different nose piece on them, but the casing and motor inside are exactly the same.

You are getting good advice here in that it will be date correct for somebody's car and they will pay you a decent price for it. Hell, if it was date correct for my car and you were close to me, I could prolly be talked into paying $200 for it and I am a self-admitted cheapskate. $500 sounds awful steep, but if you get it, great!

Thanks Paul! Thought it was probably used on many BBC applications but did not have any books to refer to other than Corvette.
It really has a nice case and worked just fine as well so it should make someone very happy.

Thanks Joe and did look at it. Other than some needed paint the one we have look's much nicer.

I looked a long time for one. I found one dated Dec. 68, the car it is for was late January 69.
