i recently picked up a powerglide with the # 3836142 directly in front of the torque converter. questions:
what was this originally in?
where can i look this info up for future reference?
what motor was it hooked up to?
can this tranny easily hook up to a "modern" 350?
would this tranny readily hook up to a blue flame 6?
would this tranny w/ whatever engine combo fit easily into a '54, and if not what would i need to do to make it fit?
Thanks for any and all info.
Josh
p.s. any other info needed to determine what its out of ect., lemme know!
p.s.s. posted in c1 w/ no help... figured id come to my "home" and see if it would help
You can probably "hook that transmission" to about any pre-80's chevy SB engine. However, the performance will be limited by the match between the engine and the torque converter on the tranny. If the transmission is in good shape, either research the existing converter to see if the match is decent, or replace the converter with a new one that is a good match.
