Default carb problem??

I have 77 SB L48 and when I put my foot in it, it bogs down to the point of stopping completely. I am thinking of replacing the carb, but could it be something else causing the performance problem? I want to make sure I look at everything before I spend tall $$ for replacement Where is a good place to order new carb?

Whoa don't go replacing the carb just yet. Sounds like a couple different things might cause that and they are just adjustments.

First, does it do the same thing no matter if the engine is cold or hot and running for a while?

The first things that come to mind are choke, timing, and accelerator pump...which can be replaced instead of the whole carb.

Sounds like the Accelerator Pump to me. It's not too hard to replace.

First I would check timing, check plugs to see if running rich or bad, plug wires and make sure your timing is advancing.

i had an 84 camaro with a rochester that did the same thing. the carb needed to be rebuilt, there was an internal leak. might not be a bad idea to check the fuel pump and your filters as well.

Thanks. Hot/cold.running for a while, it still happens. The cost of the new one is not cheap. I will check the three items you suggested.
