Default What engine is this?

I looked at a '72 today and found that the motor was not original. The pad number is V0282400. Does anybody know what engine this is?

Thanks,
Roy

I left without getting the casting numbers and was not sure if anything could be obtained from the pad numbers...other than Feb 82nd.

Aren't the last 3 digits supposed to be letters, not numbers? You can get alot of decoding info at YearOne's website.

my 79 L82 has the same type numbers on the block pad, VO ?? 2500, i cant remember the first two numbers. no VIN data. it has the correct L82 intake, correct camshaft , 4 bolt main block,(no windage tray), and the heads are standard heads, when i pulled the bearings they had GM 81 on the back of them, i havent found any info to explain the numbers, i think its probably a dealer service replacement long block manuf. in 1981. the casting numbers on the back of the block indicate it was for i think 78-82 350 engine. so yours may be an over the counter block replacement . just fyi
