Default C3 value question

Hi Guys. I usually hang out on the C4 forum but had a question for you. I've been wanting a C3 and found an 81 here in town that seems like a good deal. It's a local car being sold by the 3rd owner. It has 108,000 miles on it. Still runs and drives pretty good. No major mechanical issues but is still, for all intents and purposes, a resto project. It's never been wrecked but it does need a complete paint job. Needs to be taken down to the glass and repainted. The seats, carpet and weatherstripping are all shot but the dashboard and door panels are still in good shape. The tires and wheels are in great shape. It seems the only things the car needs badly are cosmetic, although if I bought it I would be looking at doing a complete resto. I want to buy it as a project car. The guy was actually using this car as his DD until he bought a 94 LT1 last spring. Anyway, he wants $4,000 for it. That seems like a pretty good price. The other C3s I've seen in that price range are in a whole lot worse condition than this one. Does it sound like a good price to you guys or am I missing something here?

Found price guide in August Corvette Enthusiast that shows $5,925 for a '81 Coupe in fair condition. Fair was described as "kept outside, driven hard, and not properly maintained."

That is a "VERY" good price for the car you are descriping. If you like it, then jump on that deal.

I have an 81 that I restored and I paid more for mine then what that friend of yours is asking.

$4K is completely reasonable. If this car is original and unmolested, $4K is a steal.

Good luck.

No frame damage or major rust issues, I say go for it
