Default Air Cleaner Suggestions

I could really use some help (suggestions) on an air cleaner for my engine. I have tried a few 14" and dont seem to like the large size (covers too much up) so I went with this one. But I dont think this is too good of an air cleaner so im looking for another, but could use your help!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also any opinions on this one would be appreciated!

Thanks

Dave..I bought an off-set dropped base on e-bay and used a 14" x 3" on my Q-Jet. I have 1 1/4" clearance to the hood liner.

Yes I was looking at that same cleaner you have, theyre super nice, problem is it is a 14" and it doesnt fit next to my distributor setup I have unless its not drop base, also I am partial to the small size cleaners. I like the look of the open engine a bit more. But its more a fit issue. thanks

Why not go with the dual snorkle type? it would look good plated in chrome.

I think hes wanting a smaller cleaner set up so it dosent cover so much of the engine, much like the one he has or the "bug-eye" type set up

Dave...You have a nice looking engine and I understand you wanting a smaller air cleaner to show off you engine. You may be able to pick up a dropper base 11" air cleaner from Jegs or Summit. If you will notice on my air cleaner that the off-set base clears my distributor by 1 1/4". A regular 14" base hits my distributor. I went with the 14" as I wanted better air flow. I went into e-bay and searched "off set air cleaner bases". I picked up the base for about $15.

Make a small notch in the base and the 14" will work with the HEI

This one can and will catch fire if the engine backfires badly. The filtering membrane sits right on top of the venturies with no protection. I learned this one the hard way!!
