The weather here in Ohio was great Sunday so I went out to the shed where I store my 74 and pulled off the cover and the car was sweating all over, like the car cover was holding in moisture so I ripped that cover off dryed it out and stored it away Im sure glad I when out and checked when I did all the chrome sure would have been rusted up at least some.I had never stored it with the cover on and now I seem to see that it was A good Idea not to put the cover on for the winter.
Hope everyone had a good Christmas My girl got me a thing for the vett so I know exactly when to stop, and get the most out of my garage work bench It works pretty good and its easy to set up. Got it from Corvette Central. She also bought me a Guitar Anybody need one?no just kiddding .Not sure at the late in life I need A guitar.
You do have to be careful with storing a car under a car cover for long periods. You need to make sure that the cover breathes and doesn't hold in moisture.
Changes in humidity and temperature levels can cause a lot of condensation. Nothing worse than mold and rust in the spring when you expect to see a dust free car under your cover.
I've been leaving the heat off in the garage to save money this year. We had a week of below 0 temps then 2" of rain and 60* temps and the whole garage floor was sweating.
With all the money tied up in both cars I told the wifey THE HEAT STAYS ON!!!!
A fewyYears ago back in the early 90s I used to store my car at the Jersey shore. It was in a locked garage but the house is 5 back from the ocean. You can imagine the rust issues that might have happened. I bought one of these bags and would put my car in sometime in November and remove it in April. The car came out spotless. No rust even on the rotors. It was stored on a concrete floor 1 car garage. I reused the bag probably 6 or 7 times before my current house with a 2 car garage. You just put the car in with 2 disicant bags and it comes out clean.
Holy crap, the same with mine, i have 2 covers on it, when i checked it there were some wet stains on it, but easily dryed, i will keep an eye on it, thanks for the update, i thougfht mine was the only one
It's easier to look on the right-side gauge, I believe. And in a Corvette, you are anyway looking at the tach, not the speedo, so be it! Heck, in my C3 the speedo isn't even working yet.

This is a major problem up here in the colder climates . Anything that holds the cold as the temperatures rises quickly like last week will sweat.
Put your car in a bag in a cold garage and any moisture in that bag will be on the engine /chrome ,what ever ,your just trapping in that moisture.
Given, it is a lot less then being exposed to high humidity /raining conditions of temps above 32 .
Just ask any carpenter about his tools he stored in a cold garage.
The only way around this is a heated garage kept around 40 minimum and doors closed when the humidity is high out side .Speaking from experience.
Michigan is very hard on cars and I'm not talking pot holes .
LOL! I don't know how I messed this one up. I should have gone to sleep instead of answering. I couldn't even find that topic where this answer should have belonged but I'm sure it was somewhere in the forum where one asked about the speedo position. Was it you?
