im putting back together a 1969 convertible and am not sure if the deck release mechanisms and assorted parts that attach to the deck lid should be painted the body color or a black/flat black. anybody know what the correct way to paint these parts would be? also anyone with a picture i could reference for assembly would be awesome
-Bob
That's pretty good. The underside of the lid and the release handles are body color. Everything else is essentially natural metal since everything else was installed after paint. Rear bow latches might be semi-flat black.
Hi Mike,
I'm wondering if the 'natural' metal parts you mention might have been phosphated like the hood latching parts. GM didn't mind customers seeing rust UNDER the car but didn't want them to see it IN the car. (Damp Interiors !)
Happy New Year!!!!
