Default shock question

i have a 78 L82 with 25000 miles that has the original shocks. can shocks wear out just from age? ride is ok, but could i improve it adding some blisteins? vbs has a good price on the right now. thanks to everyone here for all of the great info i have recieved here.

I would imagine they could, seals get dry rotted I guess. Go with the bilsteins, the HD not the sports, I think the sports are too stiff.

I'd suggest a set of Bilsteins in lieu of brand new stock shocks, so IMHO there's no reason to agonize over whether or not to replace your antiques.

can anyone else comment on sports or hd's. i will never be doing any tracking just normal street driving

Its been a while since i ordered my bilsteins but i believe the sports are the more firmer of the 2 even though it sounds the other way. If your not do any track stuff than get the less firmer of the 2 which I belive is the HD. You can call bilstein and talk to their tech people and they will confirm. I'm very happy with my bilsteins by the way.
