I brought my 80 back to life (been sitting for the last 2 years in my garage) only to discover a couple of electrical gremlins.
First, my turn signals don't work. The lights themselves work (using the hazards), and the flasher is good (I swapped with the hazard flasher to verify.) Also, the front turn signal lights come on, but do not flash, only when the headlights are on. Rears do not come on at all.
Second, the brake lights work only intermittently. I checked the bulbs and connectors and saw no corrosion.
Any idea what the problem(s) might be. Are the two issues somehow related?
I'm not sure without looking, but isn't there a flasher for the 4way and one for the turn ? If that's not it, I would make sure your getting power thru the turn switch and then power thru the light and brake switch. Current starts at point A and goes to B, you'll just have to follow the whole path with a multi meter one connection at a time if it isn't one of the obvious above.

Yep, the flashers work.

I have power through the turn signal switch, but only when the lights are on.
Try this-turn your ignition on,turn right signal on,with a test light probe the purple wire, dark green wire and the dark blue wire at the harmonica connector. That should tell you whats going on or not going on.

All the electrical work under the bumper is connected at one, uninsulated crimp from the factory. I had to cut mine out and reconnect all the grounds in a new clean connection before my taillights would work worth a crap. It solved my goofy signal, flasher, tail light problems. Don't forget to make sure the one lead to the frame has a nice clean connection as well.
push the 4way fasher switch in and out a few times, i have seen these hit by accident and cause all kinds of grieve if not checked , i think out is off
