If someone can get that cheap enough (because of salvage title) they can make a car they can have fun with that would have otherwise cost a whole lot more money.
My car has been hit in a previous life (even have frame damage to show it) yet I have a clear title.....salvage titles don't mean a whole lot in some cases.
You can buy cars with salvage titles that was a theft recovery and never seen a fender bender.
"Reconstructed" title, huh? Is that sort of like Previously Owned vehicles? Actually, I've got a 69 Mustang fastback with a salvage title that is an excellent car. We've had it in the family for 14 years and it looks and runs great. I just took the time to look it over very thoroughly for major repairs to the floor pan, like welds of half of one car to half of another, before I bought it. It was intended to be a driver and that's what it is. Many older cars were totaled by insurance companies when they weren't worth anything and couldn't justify the cost of fixing them. A salvage title on a newish BMW or Mercedes might be a big problem, indicating major damage and a "frankencar", but a salvage title on a vintage car can mean nothing at all (or could mean a welded together POS). It's up to the buyer to examine and come to his own conclusions. Clearly this car isn't going to lose value since it is a collection of parts. Now, if the guy was maketing a numbers matching 69 with a "reconstructed" title, I'm outta there.
I think it is just bad photography. Even though in one photo the nose is cut off, there are 3 other photos that show the same area from different angles.
