Default Ignition Cylinder replacement

I'm working on an 1981. I bought a matched set of locks/ignition and wondering if anybody has any advise on how to change out the Ignition cylinder? Thanks

Saw a "pre-69 procedure" for removing the switch, but that was it???

I went to the jimshea site and I also seen and read the "pre-69" but not sure if it would be the same for an 81?

I did mine this past summer using Jim Shea's procedure it was very straight forward and made replacement go relatively easy.

Pre 1969 the lock cylinder and ignition switch were one unit and were mounted in the instrument panel. You can remove the lock cylinder with the ignition key and a paperclip. From 1969 forward the lock cylinder was in the steering column head and the ignition switch was down under the dash on top of the steering column jacket. The lock cylinder now can only be removed by disassembly of the steering column head.

To replace the lock cylinder you will need to remove the steering wheel, steering wheel hub, locking plate, and pull the turn signal switch out from the column head. After 1978 the lock cylinder was retained in the column head with a screw. You will need to remove the screw and the lock cylinder will slide right out.

Complete instructions are at the www.corvettefaq.com websight.
