The motor is nothing special, 355ci iron 2.02 heads etc. It doesn't really matter at this point it is a nice starting point and if I really get into it with this car at the drag strip it will start going faster and faster

I would take the maro over the PT anyday as long as I had a dependable DD. Do it!

I think it's a good trade if the Camaro isn't a rust bucket. Look under carpet floorboards, esp. if it has T-Tops. I drag race my 78 vette, but have beefed up everything in the rear end and it was expensive to do...the 78 Camaro will be a great Strip car...there are lots at my track in Orlando, but not as in good shape as yours. I say go for it, but I'm not a Chrysler fan. I bought a $200 91 GMC Sonoma (S10) and have gutted it and transplanted a 383 stroker motor in it w/ about 400hp...you have the same idea...I like to race my vette, but always worried about breaking it again. If you can afford to do it- by all means, have fun with it...if it's a Z28, it should have a limited slip rear diff also, which is a good place to start...DDBS

stock: it will probably run in the 15's quarter mile, 78 was not a good year for performance...my vette stock ran that time, but now with a rebuilt motor and also stroked to a 383 and TKO 600, and 3.73 gears, I'm now running 12.50's quarter mile, 11's with nitrous...lots of upside...

I think that LT weighs close to 3,800 pounds. I had the same year Z28 with a fresh decent 400 sm block that would barely motivate the pig with 3.73s.

As a two time Camaro owner, I say rock it with mullet-pride!

I sold an 81 Z28 to buy my Vette, so yeah, I'm with most everyone here, you haven't traded yet?

My wifes daily driver is an '03 Pt with a stick. You can't beat it for economy and versatility. What do you think I took to all the swap meet to buy Vette parts. Think twice (unless your PT is an automatic).
