Just got new street wheels mounted on our 69 vette. American Racing Torque Thrust II's in 17x11, 4" back space with 315/35/17's. When we bought the car it came with 2 sets of 16x11" Real Race wheels and finding street tires for them has been impossible. So we bought these, they were supposed to take 8-12 weeks to get but we got them in 2 weeks
Here it is with the Real Race Wheels 16x11 for the track
It's a track car, years ago it had some front a rear damage so a previous owner added the fender flares, 73-75 front and rear with raised spoiler. I know the guy that did all the body work and paint, he did an excellent job. Looking forward to the spring when Solo 2 and NCCC events start back up.
Thanks. I prefer the original bumpers as well. I think the old owner wanted a more aerodynamic look when the changes were made back in the 80's. My 72 racer still has all it's crome, and will soon have a fresh coat of paint.
That is one sweet looking ride, are you putting side pipe on it, if
so that would finish it off. Hate to see a 69 missing it's chrome, but
still it's a bad azz ride. Please tell us you have more phots to share.
Thanks for sharing,
Sorry, I just seen you already have side pipes, they were just hard
to see.
Riggs.
Yeah the flat black pipes are hard to see in the pic. I picked up a used rocker panel (only passenger side is missing), I need get it trimmed for the side pipe bracket and mount it.
Here are a few more pics one is over exposed so the color is a little off.
stinger12, I will measure the flares and let you know.
MN-Bret, yes I am running same on all four. If I were to do it again I would probably go down to a 10.5-10 on the front as the clearance is really close on driver side front fender with the 315's since they are more square then the 275/45/16 race tires. It has 1/2=3/4" spacers all around so I am going to run without them on the front when on the TTII's just to be safe. It has a 350ci it set up for NCCC group 2C, so 300hp w/ a Muncie M-21. The heads don't have hardened seats so I have to run 1/2 race 1/2 premium fuel. The motor needs freshening, just trying to figure out what I want to do but will just run it as it this season to get used to the car and go from there.
When the flares were put on they used 73-79 front fenders as the owner at the time like the smooth look of the openings.
The car has been a racer for at least the last 20-25 years so a lot of little odd things here and there have been done to it. The ebrake shoes and cables are completely removed, makes getting it off the trailer a joy. A lot of the wiring in the dash is cut, so it has break lights but no turn signals, no normal head lights, center gauge cluster is currently non functioning, rear storage latches have been removed.. and a few other things to save "weight". So I have a handful of things I need to do so I can drive it on the street as I would like to be able to drive to the local SCCA events and not have to always trailer the car. I bought the car knowing what it is and for what I paid for it I can live with having to fix a few things to make it my own.

Lots of the old C3 race cars have had their body "updated" one way or another. It's still a great looking car and should be a lot of fun to drive on the street. You will get plenty of double takes I'm sure.
