Its the orange one in my album. Nothing special about the exterior at the moment. I plan on getting a high rise hood instead of the hole in the hood, and changing the back bumper to the 80's style. I'm torn between repainting original orange or going with a candy apple red. I think I'll work on getting the garage lift first though.
I cant believe how long its all been taking. There's no shortcuts on quality work and some people here have probably changed thier email address to get rid of me (Jackson)
Just so you know, its 383 under that blower. Should be fun!
But you cant build something with that much HP that looks like crap. The previous owner explored that option way too much for my liking.
I blew the engine Dec 07 and have started with a blank engine compartment about 3 months ago. One tends to get sidetracked with all the other things that are suddenly acccesible when the engine is out of the car: AC, heat, suspension, brakes, blah, blah, blah...
Very cool. Keep us updated on progress. I have a low-ish compression 290 HP crate motor about to go in to my '81, and the little devil on my shoulder keeps telling me to save up for a supercharger.
I'm interested to see what kind of hood you ger to fit over everything. I was just looking at the Weiand 142 blowers that look a little lower profile (and HP, for that matter).
Thanks, I like the low design of it. Not being able to see around a normal height blower is what has kept me from going down that road.
You can get the same blower from Holley, they bought B&M's blower dept some time ago. If you see my album in my profile, it will *almost* clear a stock hood. The PO cut the hood, but if I were to lose the carb spacers (heat isolation for the carb) and go to a 3" air cleaner vs 4, it would be very close to fitting underneath. I know what you're saying, even the couple inches it sticks up is enough to make you sit up straight and peer around it when in residential neighborhoods.
You can get them from hotzone performance on E-bay at a very attractive price. Stamped aluminum and I think they are $24 +shipping. I also got the matching flame wire looms from Jegs. Will probably top off with the matching air cleaner cover from hotzone.
Is that a glass fuel filter? If yes I would lose it..quick!
There have been numerous tales of leaks and fires as a result of those POS...
Yes, it's glass. I'll take your advice, as I respect your opinion. Thanks for the help with all that boost referencing thing. Apparently previously I was running with no power valve operation. (That probably contributed greatly to the busted piston). You should see the pics, my mod came out quite nice I'll send them to anyone that wants to go down that road.

I'll repeat my opinion on blowing stockish bottom ends. PM me if you want details, but...IMHO you need to have a purpose built bottom end, unless you like changing engines, which I detest. I had mine built by CNC motorsports and while it wasnt cheap, it wasnt crazy expensive either, (about 4K) and I know I can hammer the crap out of it without hurting it. The demise of my last engine was (too much boost) a piston. Unless you are going to run some kind of engine management/detonation suppression system, I would not boost cast pistons. But that's just me.....
I am waiting to see if my larger displacement and bigger cam drops my boost levels any. If not I am going to look into methanol injection or a boost retard system. I also need to have a look at the calculations of actual dynamic CR at boost. Off the top of my head, I am guessing somewhere around 11:1
Once you go FI though, you will never go back. My other car (C4) has a stock ZZ4 and its like in comparison, but I cant boost it because its got cast pistons and something like 10:1 CR.
