This looks like it was painted quick, under side looks like the rattle can man stopped by ( all the bolts are painted). How much do you know about these cars and the rust issues they have? If not much I would ask a forum member to help you out and go with you when you look at these cars you have questioned. They may look good from the photos but anyone can put lipstick on a pig.

I know them pretty good, did a frame off on a 1972. I know all about the rust issues. Its just nice to have another pair of eyes to look.

I agree, it seems like it was painted a little on the cheap side.

Thanks!

I agree, that's a bad paint job and I bet it looks worse in person!

regarding the paint....nothing that a bucket of water, a rubber sanding pad and 1000 grit paper won't cure...

Very Cool on the frame off you done on the 72. I think both cars would be good buys if they dont need to much frame/cage work.

I would go for the big block car, assuming it was a 427/435 when it left the factory...

It's a repaint. Trim code 988 is for Steel Cities Grey, a nice color BTW. Conventional wisdom says the car is devalued by the cost of putting the original color back on the car. Look at the 10th pic. down - the paint is very crappy. The air dam is missing, and the front looks like it has been sand blasted. Same for the rear bumpers. IF the frame and birdcage are sound and rust-free, it is still a long way from being a nice correct car - shoulder belts seem to be missing for example. Which is to say, deduct all the things it needs from the price so that when you put $$ into it, you aren't upside down in it.

That's true, would take care of the orange peel for sure, but a few of those pictures show some major imperfections in the paint, don't know if they'll come out or not........

It really looks like they're presenting the best features of the car, however covered up they might be. It's appropriate that this is a Florida car - there's enough Orange Peel in the paint job for a whole orchard. Look at the reflections in one of RoadRaceVette's paint jobs and compare them to that one. The interior looks like it was given a dye job - not bad in itself but they left out parts like the door grab handles and the steering wheel (which is not original BTW). The engine compartment has been given a similar spray-can resto, and the chrome ignition covers are missing. The frame doesn't look bad from the available photos but you should check it very carefully given the amount of lipstick that has been applied to the rest of the car.

Thanks guys, I agree with a lot of the things that was said. it seems to me that everything was just slapped together real quick with no attention to detail. I'm not looking for a NCRS car, but I don't want a sloppy car either.

I found another one that I may check out, a little more money but looks a lot better, take a look at this one, I emailed him and he is asking 17.5k

Looks like it might be a good driver if it doesn't have rust issues not shown in the pictures. I can see the things that aren't correct, but it isn't priced as if it were an NCRS restored car. I think it would be worth checking out. $14.5 is just their asking price, the selling price would end up being that or less.

Im shocked at the unbelievable amount of closeup pictures on a car that looks worse the longer you look at it. Chipped up front end with missing air dam, K Mart mirrors & steering wheel, (whats with the backwards installed center cushion?), weak color change, scruffy engine compartment, old rear bumpers... well, at least there 4 pictures of the replacement exhaust tips and a nice close up of a... tire. Uh, OK.

Guy's take in account the price 14.5k in not much!!. Mine was a resell red also, terrible paint job, red weather striping, red mist over the interior, paint chips the size of tree leaves. Car 1 has lots of pictures and they are honest pictures. How did you conclude that car number 2 is better, 4 lines and 4 pictures?

The seats look strange. Definitely not stock style covers.

If the car runs great and has no major rust issues, I don't think the asking price of 14.5K is way off. If you could walk away with this for 13K I would think you did pretty well.

BTW.. if the photographer is included I would pay the asking price of 14.5
