I wasnt saying that my car came from the factory with side pipes, I put the 1969 factory sidepipes on my car with no problems, and when you buy aftermarket sidepipes they say that they are for 68-74 because the cars came without cats. Dont freak out Vettebuyer5869, nothing I said there was incorrect.

Bluedawg, I live in Eagle River and just installed a set of sidemount headers and sidepipes on my '75. It's easy. I also know someone locally who has a used set of headers and sidepipes that would need to be coated, but you could probably pick up for a decent price. They wouldn't look perfect or be chrome, but they'd be a great set for a driver. I picked up my set from him and took them to a powdercoating place in the Valley that ceramic coated them for me. Have yet to burn a leg on them.

PM me sometime.

Back to your original question; I suppose you'll get less heat in the cockpit than standard exhaust. My 76 has Hookers with no required mods. The reason for the listing stopping at 74 is EPA reg's. If you have EPA ****'s, you better make sure they don't do visual inspections. Even if your engine passes the particulate test, you may not get registered if the pipes aren't visually appropriate for that model year.

By the way, you can get around the emissions deal here in Alaska if you just get seasonal tags. You can only drive the car from April until November, but I doubt you'd want to drive it in the winter anyways. That's what I did.
