Default vin #

Looking for the vin # on 1969,it is not inwindow where it should be. The last six numbers on the block match the title but is the whole vin # anywhere else on the car?

Hi MZB,
What's where the VIN should be on the pillar?
It's also stamped on the drivers side top of frame rail over the rear wheel.
Not having a VIN plate can be a bad thing!
Regards,
Alan

No VIN?

Might want to check the frame, I hate to say it but STOLEN?

I have run into a couple of chop shop vehicles in my line of work, VIN off a wreck etc, used to register a stolen car then sold to a new owner!

How long have you had the car?

Sometimes people have had the cars for years and did not know.

I hope its just been removed in a repair!

Did it rust off from the a-pillar maybe?? If so, stay away.

FWIW, I think the blue certification sticker on the inside of the drivers door had the VIN, too. I'm not near my car now, so I can't verify this.

to answer the question, Vehicle VIN #
is stamped 2 places on the frame,
1 is under the drivers seat, unveiwable with frame on.

The second place is on top of the frame directly in front of the read body mount.

This # is visible with the body on, and use a small mirror and a good eye !

VIN plates are very, very different from data tags or cowl plates.

Give some thought to your state's laws.

It's illegal to replace a VIN tag in most places. Start with you DMV, tell them what the situation is, and follow their guidelines for a replacement VIN.
