When I was changing my rearview mirror, the mount fell off.
The only thing Autozone had was a 'peel n stick' mount.
It lasted two days and then fell off.
I then used rearview mirror glue. it lasted about 10 minutes.
I'm following the directions on the packages, but I've never had this happen before.
You must get both surfaces very clean and very smooth. Take the mirror off of the mount and use the rearview mirror glue (SuperGlue, really) to attach the mount. Put some duct tape over it to hold it in place overnight so it will fully cure. It should be warm when you do it or it may not stick or cure properly. Good luck.
your problem is simple, the OEM windshields appear to be coated on the inside with a thin plastic, regular mirror glue won't stick. Get some fine sandpaper, 220 to 400 grit. Then, trace out the outline of the metal pad onto the windshield, then lightly buff the Complete (no smooth corners) outline. Then clean the area with some alcohol, and glue it back on. mine been on for year and a half now
