Default Need help on differential date code

Hello I'm visiting from the C2 forum.

I purchased a differential and the date code is AB W 22 5 1

AB = 3.73 Posi
I'm thinking this is a 1975 case built on the 22nd of a given month but the W has me confused.

What do you think?

Here's a pic:

Thanks,
brian

Check the casting date on the LH side under the yoke.The stamped assembly date should be a couple of months later.
Look at the posi case, if it has the small sq window then it's a 65 but the stamping on a 1965 would be "65" the tear drop windows are the later units. If it's an original diff then the yokes are probably junk, same with the clutches. Check to be sure there is still a 1/8 boss on the yoke seal area.
Note AB = 370 373 were never a corvette ratio, only aftermarket or maybe a counter replacement in HP parts catalog.

Default My '71 reads .....

LR = 3.36 posi
W = Warren Motive axle plant
84 = Julian calendar date (March 25th)
E = Eaton (positraction source)
2 = second shift ("swing shift?")
