Default Motor numbers

I am trying to find out what motor i have exactly in my vette. the person i bought it from changed it from the original but im not sure what it is. if anyone can help me with a site to put in my numbers that will tell me what it is that would be great or tell me where i can find out what it is. not sure if i can call chevy or not. thanks everyone.

Post the numbers from the pad on the block at the front of the right head. You should find two numbers stamped there. One is the engine code and will identify the engine; the second is a VIN derivative for the car the engine was originally installed in.
