Default 1980- auto trans question
3 speed right ? Feels like a 2 speed power glide
why am I only feeling it shift once after take off, Is it not in 1st gear when I start or what?

Please help.

Yeah it's a 3-speed Turbo 350 so it should shift twice.

Not sure what would cause it, but it might be starting in 2nd gear.

Does it wind out on the highway or cruise normally?

The shift from 2nd to 3rd is very smooth on a stock TH350 trans. If its working properly and you have all 3 gears, get a Trnsgo shift kit to firm up the shifts- definitely more fun to drive.
