Default Stop lights / tail lights intermittent problem

I have an 82 with a bit of a light problem. My tail/stop lights work intermittently. if i get up under the bumper and fool with the back of the lights i can get them to work for a while. So it seems to me it is a loose wire within the plug/socket of a certain light.

How have you all gone about to fix this? Is soldering the answer?
Any suggestions are welcomed. Thank you, Robert

there should be a bolt with two or three wires going to it on the driver side rear take the wires off with the bolt and clean them up. it sounds like your problem.

I had the same problem but it was only on the left side tail light. When I removed the tail light to look at the tail light socket I noticed that when I wiggled the black wire on the socket that the light would cut on then off. I replaced the socket and the problem was fixed. I would say that your problem is somewhere in the ground in the sockets or where it grounds to the body. I hope this helps and that you can find your problem and get it fixed.

I would just replace the socket, I don't think that you can get them from a auto parts store for a 82. my car is a 79 and I got them from zips for about $20.
