Well while yelling at the dude some lady stops out of nowhere and says "He should have scratched it all the way down. ARGGGGG I flew up my hands and went back into the store yelled kinda loud went out locked the door and drove home!!!!!!!! He spidered my bumper Kinda but it was not worth the COPS heck they would have thrown me in the slammer mammer for having such A nice car (1975 Stock No-Mods.) Sorry for the long rant

Let me get this straight... You didn't call the cops when a guy hit your car?

Not the brightest are ya? Now YOU have to pay for the repair.

Should have have gotten his plate, registration, insurance info anyway!
Make him replace the bumper, painted or not! And what's up with the lady? She his mother? She's a witness to the incident! Take pictures of the cracks so you have a record. Have you seen this guy & truck around before? I'd pursue this or he'll just do more damage to other peoples cars. He obviously doesn't give a $hit about other peoples property.

I paid 8K for paint (including a new ACI door-to-door). People think it is at least a 10K job. I have a few scratches that were magically "repaired" with touch-up paint. I have had workers at my house, and my guess is the boss had to show off the 68 L36 Roadster. What are you gonna do? I say enjoy your car and just be glad you can afford to have it.

I`m sorry to hear of your plight with an inconsiderate idiot.

This just reinforces my case of do not, leave your vette alone.

Please for the love of your car don`t leave it in the care of the general public, its all just a matter of time.

Now for a public announcement: It is a classic stay the f*** away from it.

If there was "no real damage" then why such an emotional response?

Believe me, I LOVE my Baby...and I would be upset if someone recklessly or carelessly damaged it...but I would have definitely handled it differently. I would have kept my cool...talked to the other driver about options, (damage, insurance, police report, ect.)...then made a "rational" decision about how to proceed.

Had I been the driver of the truck...and you "went crazy on me" (your words)...I would have asked you to "calm down"...and if you didn't...I would have told you to "F-off".

Please don't take this wrong...I'm not "calling you out"...but uncontroled emotions are very dangerous...and can easily get you hurt...or killed.

I also think, since in your opinion there was no "real damage", not calling the Police was a good idea. I agree you you would probably ended up in "the slammer mammer "...but not "for having such A nice car".

Just keepin' it real.

Bobby

There is no reason why a beating wasn't issued.

...I carry a Katana in my baby...just in case such a situation were to arise.

I had some Redneck do that to my 78 at the movie theater. It got very close to a fist fight. When the cops showed up, he made a mistake of talking back to them. Wrong. He looked nice in new braclets....His girlfriend then decided to go bubba. That didn't turn out well either.
Bottom line was he insurance and they didn't fight anything.

I just re-read my post and it came off as pretty asinine, I apologize.

I still think you should have gotten his info however.

wow I'm in the Pumpkin City all the time. will certainly watch where I park. I go off on myself more than I go off on anyone else though. But by the time you wait for a cop to show up, go get estimates, then fight with the insurance company who wants to give you a couple hundred bucks because "you can go get parts from a junkyard". That is if the guy even has insurance. I'd probably do the same thing. just my 2 cents

Sorry to read about the hassle you had, Lon.

Obviously, we don't know everything and having anybody get uncomfortably disrespectful to our hot rods is always a fast way to our fightin' side.

That said, there are different ways to deliver a message. Glad you and the car weren't hurt and lot's of effective methods are being discussed in the previous posts.

Hope you are able to get some rest and have a plan that you can rely on if and when the next event may occur (shiite happens). Don't let anyone get the best of you. Good Luck.
