Default Got a 69 coupe project

Not a barn find, a field find. Not sure why I got this except it was cheap, maybe I'll name it Money Pit, no engine, seat, front bumper, back and passenger windows broke, lot of fiberglass damage, was a pain to get on my car trailer. At least my wife thinks it has potential. Perfect candidate for a rat rod LOL.

Looks like a four speed car. Have fun with it, your options are unlimited with this one.

Transistor Ignition amplifier in the last photo could mean a high horse engine.

How many steel fuel lines from tank to pump?

It can't be an L88 because no power brakes, but could be an L71 car.

Tach redline?

I will check tomorrow when it's light, or fight mosquitoes and do it now with a nice LED light my wife got me.

What is an L71? A buddy said the main difference in big blocks and SB was the front springs, it does seem to sit high with no engine now that I have 4 good tires on it.Where is the VIN on this car? Not on dash at left windshield area, found trim tag front of door opening.

L71 was the 427/435hp with 3x2 Holley Tri-Power carbs and very desirable.

TI was required on the L71 and L88 in 69 but could be ordered on any car,
still it was unusual to see it on low hp cars but possible.

The VIN should be on the driver side windshield post like all other C3's.

If the VIN is missing, check the VIN stamp on the frame in the driver side rear wheel well.

The frame stamp must match the title or you will have trouble getting it registered.

Yes, possible title prob, PO didn't have a title.

Has a 6400 RPM redline.

Only looks like one fuel line coming into engine compartment, but not positive.

6500 redline, single fuel line and transistor ignition all point to L71.

Would be nice if the tranny was the original M21 with matching VIN stamp.

Bad news on the title and VIN. Your gonna have to find the frame VIN stamp and then
have the number run to see if it comes back stolen or in use. He could have sold the
VIN plate and title to somebody else so get that straight before spending any more money.

What parts supplier are you going to use? Might be time to buy some stock in them...LOL

I've got a 1969 dated 350/350 motor that would drop right in. Just rebuilt bottom end.

I'm going to pull the tranny and check numbers. Where specifically is the rear Driver side frameVIN number? There's a flat spot forward of the wheel, and one on a slope just behind the wheel. The pillar area is rusted metal, I see rivits but no discernable numbers, was the plate metal? If so, it's rusted the numbers to bumps.

Anyone in Pensacola area remembers a guy named Morris with a crap brown coupe? It used to be blue, may be an old stolen car, has a home made console and Hurst shifter. It also has a rear sway bar.

If your wife actually said "it has potential", she's thinking of a new kitchen and bathroom.

Based on my 69 350/350 without AC - it looks like a small block car. The last picture has the Harrison aluminum expansion tank on the passenger side wheel well. I think the big blocks had a long narrow brass expansion tank.

One of the two frame VIN stamps is at the very top of the frame in the driver's side rear wheel well.
Will need lacquer thinner or similar to clean and remove the paint to see the stamp, a small mirror will
also help. If the frame numbers match the tranny stamp and that VIN is not in use you might still be OK.
The VIN plate was metal and will rust, hopefully that is what happened here and it was not sold.

Only big blocks with A/C got the long brass tank.
Non-A/C 69 big blocks got the same tank you see here.
Rear sway bar points to big block.

Uh oh, I'm in big trouble, I paid more than a couple hundred. Hmmm, I guess I'll be better off parting it out, lessee, what can I get for a transistor ignition, a 4 speed Muncie, a 6500 rpm tach? Then there's the Hurst shifter and all them other parts like doors and t-tops. I sure hope I break even.

Its called Corvette Fever....

if any of it appears stolen you are at the police's mercy, the police will just take that car from you... you have to find a way to authenticate the VIN..

yes do not do anything until you can find a way to get a VIN Assigned to it and get a title in your name..

of course it is unlawfull to possess stolen cars, but your seller is equally as liable if you bought the car in good faith..

even the junk man won't take it away without a title..
