I don't know about the configuration . Had a friend who's girl did'nt like them for the heat /stepover factor. They do look cool though.
What about speed bumps ? will you lose ground clearance ?
I was just debating the same thing for my 68 so I will keep an eye on this thread.. If you dont mind me asking, what sizes tires you got on there? Almost looks like 275/60-15's with smaller ones in the front (similar to what I'm going with)..

Yes they are 275 60 15s in rear and 235s in the front
if your gonna get sidepipes get hooker headers and pipes they are the real deal all 4 go into 1 and they sound great!!!! the patriots are fakey 4 pipes but only use 1 (choke your exhaust)
very nice looking car by the way! i love the color!!

Nice car, is it difficult to get out over the sidepipes, is the ground clearance ok, and did you have to cut away anypart of your rocker covers or car?
I have the hookers on my 81. the fit nice and are really loud. I did get inserts. I bought the chrome ones and they started rusting very fast. I was very disapointed with that

Thanks
- Some rocker panels need a little trim but every car is different.
- The Hookers tuck right up and hang no lower than the frame so clearance is fine.
- Just be getting careful getting out. They extend about four inches past the edge of the car. I installed heat shields so my daughter will not get burned.
BTW, the Patriot Lake sidepipes have a single 1.75" inlet. Good enough if you have less than 200 hp. The Hooker primaries are 1.875" diameter and you have 4 on each side.

This forum like side pipes. They look tough. I had a set on my 68 L36 Roadster. The header pipes were large, which hurt low speed torque. Personally, I am happier with duals and chrome tips out the back. One thing, they sure make working on your car easier with the exhaust out of the way...
Go with the Hooker sidemount headers and sidepipes...you won't be disappointed. I used Sweet Thunder 2.5inch inserts, and they sound fantastic. I bought my set used, and had them blasted and ceramic coated...not as shiny as chrome, but still look good and hardly noticeable if you get a little scratch here and there, which I do since my car is a driver. Plus they don't get nearly as hot as chrome.
I spent the little extra on the stainless steel Hooker headers and pipes.
I absolutely love them!
They look and sound amazing!
Question to other people with hooker pipes, what do you prefer for the baffles/mufflers, I'm running the glass packs now and i'm not very happy. I mean, they sound good, but maybe they are a little too quiet for my taste. What do you guys like?
I agree with the other. If you do go side pipes go with the Hookers, they will flow much better. I'm not a side pipe guy, I prefer under car exhaust. That is why they make both.
The Hookers are a good choice, I also like the tucked underneath look, keeps them out of site and out of curb reach. My buddie had sidepipes and switched after numerous dings and burns....
Thats some sweeet lookin ride ,but obviously you've never burnt your leg it only takes a split second on crome and you skin is peeling off, but hey it looks sooo cool !!!!!
