Looks to me like a PO had the fan balanced by someone who didn't know how. Whoever it was just notched the blades wherever they wanted. I can't imagine any other reason to do what is shown in the photos (not like clearance cuts for anything...).
That's 270 NET horsepower...at 4000 rpm. Do you think it might have a 'little' more at 5300 or so? It was no "dog"...lots of torque. That engine was very under-rated so that the insurance companies wouldn't "have a cow".
It never ceases to amaze me how a big block 454 can have only 270 hp!! what a waste of cubic inches.....
"ONLY" 270 hp but they are the size of Clydesdales or Shires at least. Nice enough car, it looks like the blade was trimmed to fit the shroud to me but what do I know , Besides the drivers door pull being on the wrong side. Peace,,,Moosie

I think mine will hold it's own. It gets pretty hairy with the loud pedal on the floor. Besides, they still show 455 foot pounds of torque on the data plate which is another "net" figure. Guess the insurance companies didn't pay much attention to the force that actually gets the car moving.
