Default Vin#

Is it me, but can anyone tell where the Vin# is located on a 75 Coupe. I have the car stripped and can't remember If I took it off. Looked in normal place between windshield and dash but nothing. What am I missing.

Thanks,
Ed

Left hand pillar post, under windshield, about 1/4 of the way up from the dash.

Should also be on the driver side door. It's on a sticker(If still there) with the body build date.

Hmmm, if you took the metal vin tag off you shouldn't have. If you decide to sell the car a sharp eyed buyer will see it's been tanpered with as you won't have the correct rivets. It's against the law to remove this metal tag.

no, it is not against the law to remove the tag.. it is against the law to afix a different vin tag to a different car than what it was originally intended,

it is against the law to do something fraudulent.... and removing a VIN tag cooks up a bunch of scenarios...

you can remove the tag, paint it purple and super glue it back if you want... knowledgable corvette experts will not buy your car though.

if you have lost the vin tag, then you wont be able to sell the car without getting a new vin tag and number from the DMV..

if you are the legitimate owner with a title, then consult your DMV regarding what to do..

There is a metal tag on the door jam riveted to the post, It has the trim #'s on it but I don't see the Vin on it. This is a matching # car as the Vin that is on the title is the same as on the engine block, The sticker on the door is long gone. Just trying to find out if there is another tag somewhere that I'm over looking with the Vin# on it.

Thanks, Ed

Did you check the pillar as 62 suggested? I only ask because of where you said you had checked.

It actually varies from state to state. In some states it is against the law to remove the VIN tag.

You should always check the state laws in this area. The federal law (18 USC 511) that deals with this topic says "in accordance with applicable state laws".

The VIN plate is on the driver's windshield post and is visible/readable from outside the car. You should be able to look down at the windshield post and see it.

The VIN is not on the trim tag on the door hinge post.
