Default A arms Rebuild or Replace?

I have a 1971 with the original A-arms. I am going to have to replace all the bushing and ball joints in the near future. Which is better rebuild them and if so who does it and cost--don't have a press, etc for the bushings or just buy new ones with all the new bushings and ball joints.
Thanks Paul

Paul rebuild yours as long as they are not bent or rotted. Usually they are not. I try not to use a press when I do them as well.

. On our 71' gave the guy in town (does alignment) 10 bucks and a six pac and nocked the old one out the new went in with a c clamp. We did upgrade to all poly and am happy with the out come also put the new springs, shocks and ride is great. Not really that bad of a job.

Good Luck wro87

Hi Paul,
Your local machine shop should be able to do the bushings.
The ball joints are a little more hassle since it takes a pretty hefty press to do the rivets as were used on the originals. You see many ball joints that have been bolted on, this is easier, but not consistent with factory production.
Finding a local place able to do the rivets may take some asking around. Bair's in Pa. does them I know. They also sell a bolt that has a head that looks like the rivet so they look right unless you look at the underside of the arms.
Regards,
Alan
