Yes Sir: I bought these same intakes from Superior Chevy in Merriam, Ks. and they also have plastic clips around them. I know that the ones that came with the car were metal. The parts counterman said they were not new old stock, but new stock made for or by G. M. If you want new old stock your going to have a hard time finding those things. Hey Guys, I know that some of the parts these company's handle are not perfect, but without these Co's. you couldn't rebuild them. I Bit h about them and I buy a lot of OEM parts and they cost me a lot of money. These Co's keep these cars Rolling. Doctorgene

A little off topic: but I have the Eckler's blues right now too. I bought a front bumper that has no chance of fitting my car ($330) and they won't respond to me either. Can you say boycott?

As stated above, Doc Rebuild is the best vendor for NOS / reproduction hoses and other rubber items. They make many of their own hoses. He used to be a Wittek clamp dealer and still has many NOS clamps. I'll never use reproduction Wittek clamps again, nothing but problems. Paragon is another vendor that supplies very "correct parts". These 2 suppliers are the most quoted in the NCRS technical forum.

I tell ya what Guys, I own 2 Goodyear shops and I buy about $30,000 worth of parts every month from about 10 vendors. None of those vendors give me the friendly, helpful service that the guys at Willcox Corvette have gave me the last 3 months since I bought my first vette. I have nickel and dimed them to death with this car and they will dig till they find it.

I too stopped doing business with Ecklers. It's either their way or no way at all. Case in point: even though I'm paying for shipping charges, they will only ship via FedEx; no UPS even if you're willing to pay extra to get what you want.

Screw Ecklers.

Wilcox should have the guts to mention in their advert that their cast alloy wheels are, "Made in Communist China."

I used Dr. Rebuild extensively during restoration of my 68. I wanted the car to be factory correct.
Not only is his stuff the real deal but he has it in stock, not just some pretty picture in a catalog like some other vendors. It's hard to restore a car with backorders and pictures, you need the actual parts.
I always had whatever I ordered within 2 days and never encountered a backorder.
He also has a great catalog that has extremely helpful pictures.
Follow the ordering instructions in the catalog and use the correct phone numbers and you will end up with good quality orignal merchandise, not some offshore reproduction crap.
Just my personal experience,
Kurt

Can I add to the eckler's blues? Them not informing you of a previously in stock item, suddenly, not only falling out of stock, but, by their estimates.. it won't be in FOR MONTHS (September?!). Keep in mind this is after you spent a boatload around a single shipment of parts centered around this item, they don't inform you at ALL. I got my packages from all over today from 3 companies, tank, sending unit, diff mounts, and some other odds and ends in the back because I am pulling the tank. However there was a glaring omission in the eckler order, THERE'S NO TANK STRAPS. When I order the straps, anti-squeek pads and rear diff mounts on rush delivery with 1 day air and you DON'T inform me you can't find a part, I'm going to be a bit miffed. Then when I call to politely ask about it's availability don't put me on hold for 20 minutes then cop an attitude.

This wouldn't be bad, but they did the same things last year when I was ordering steering parts. From now on I am strictly doing business with the Zip guys, CC and CA if I can't find parts in local shops. Btw, the dude who fielded my call at zip yesterday (I was who you said was your second caller, guy from NY, if you EVER see this YOU rock man, if I lived any closer i'd buy you a beer. )

/vent

Sorry guys, I'm going back out to work on the baby, then stare at the gaping hole where I know I should be finished by now.

I will never have anything negative to say about Willcox - even if it is made in China. They have people that get on here and make things right on complaints -great service and prices to boot. I'll bet Willcox is doing well in this economy - as they have earned it.
Eckler's has no one here that I know of - it would be nice if they had some liason here on the forum (as a sponser) that cared about people.
Their web site is pretty darn good, have to admit. I just don't know why people keep going back to them.

i made an ecklers order of 5 or so items. after about 15 emails and a friend in the states ringing them up for me every week i got my order 7 months later. thats correct 7 months. i could have just cancelled the order after 3 months but i wanted to really hound them and **** them off. its a shame my order arrived incorrect . i will never ever use them again.

one day ecklers had one of their famous 5% off everything sales. there was a radio, usually $250.00 with a price of $25.00. Got my order in quickly. It sat there for days, finally I contacted them and they said there was an error in the processing. I let them off the hook, cancelled the order and got nothing. Maybe I should have forced the issue.

Two years ago I ordered a gas tank, fuel line and a four speed shifter from Ecklers. I was new to the Corvette world, when I called them with my order and the person I talked to was a big help and asked my Vin number so I could get the right parts, found out my 69 is very early and gas tanks were different from early to late in 69 anyway the parts fit like they should. I think they are a little over price but all the parts fit and the person I talked to was very professional and my parts were hear in 5 days, in two years things may have changed, my 2ct

I actually like the "new" style intake hose better than my original. It doesn't hit the hood like the factory one did. And there are no fibers coming off it.............
