Default air vent on hood

What is the little air vent on the hood with the selonoid hooked to it? I took my hood off for paint prep and the wire was still attached but the selonoid was broken from the mounting. What is this for and are there any parts for repair?

'75s had cowl induction that drew air from the back of the hood. Do you have an air cleaner with a rubber seal around the top?

I do. What do you do if you don't want to hook it back up? Do you take the doors out and bolt the other part back to the under side of the hood?

It's been awhile since I've seen a '75 set-up, but I would think you could take 'em out or leave them in. It would be a little louder with them out..........

The solenoid is wired to a switch on the accel pedal [I think], so that the door opens when you have WOT condition.

If your keeping the car inside and not driving in a lot of bad weather, I would just take it all off. Thats what i did. You get the cold air intake all the time not just at WOT and it's one less thing to break!

I wanted as much air as I could get all the time so I took my door all the way out (it still works)I then hooked a red tail light to the wires so when I really get into it the red light comes on it looks cool (if your in the car).Take it out but keep the parts and put the screen back on.

Hey LON,
Do you have a pic of your hood with the lights on? It looks like my hood on my 78 has the same cutout underneath. Has anybody ever redone their hood to work?
