Default Convertible Help

I have a '72 convertible that I have been working on to eliminate some of the many air leaks. The faster I go the louder the car gets. It's hard to keep the radio where you can hear it. I've never had a convertible before and I don't know how loud or quiet it should be. I replaced the door & pillar weather strips and am in the process of replacing the weather strip on the top. Next step is to adjust the windows. In the process I've noticed a wire cable that runs above each door in the edge of the top. On the passenger side the cable is tight and connected to something. I can' tell what as it disappears in the top material toward the front. On the driver's side the top is more loose and I can pull the front end of the cable out. I can't find anything about what the cables are connected to or if I can fix the driver's cable without a major headache. Any help would be appreciated.

Those cables hold the top in towards the frame. With this not connected, you'll notice a huge amount of air coming in over the frame.

Also adds to the noise you're getting. Put your top down and you should be able to see if you can re-attach the cable or not. Hooks on one ends and screws on the other.

good luck

Thanks for the help. I found a broken cable on the drivers side and have ordered new cables.
