Default Question Concerning 68-71 Hood Support

When the hood is up in the 68-71, is there a 5/16" hole that lines up and goes through the hood support as in the 63-67 models? And I take it there is no hole in the hood support in the 72-76 and 77-82 models?

Thanks for any replies.

Hi 67WS,
The original support on my 71 has the 'safety' hole. 5/16"

Alan

Alan 71, Thanks for your reply. I didn't know that 5/16" hole actually had a name. I take it GM placed it there for a reason. Was it to be used to lock the hood in the upright position?

I've had the wind close the hood on my '70 a couple of times at shows. I'm looking for ideas on what to use in the safety hole to keep it from slamming shut.

I always have a golf tee or two in my pocket; these work nicely.

On my '72 I use a pin. It looks like a clevis pin but it has a spring loaded ball on the side of it on one end.

The golf tee works (GP), the clevis pin is a sailboat part(YB)
