For those of you lucky souls that have a four post lift how high are your ceilings? I am looking to make a move soon and am keeping my eyes out on the garages of the perspective homes. I will have the 72 coupe up on the top most of the time and the 2000 coupe underneath. Thanks in advance for the help with the info!
My ceiling is 10'6" but you can get away with a lower ceiling. Note that the garage door tracks had to be extended up a few feet to allow for the door to open with a car on the lift.

10' 10" and I can stack my 68 and 02 with no problems. Moved the tracks up close to the ceiling and the electric door opener over the hood area. I can stand under either car to do maintenance. You could get away with less.
Good luck. You will wonder why you didn't get one sooner.
12' ceiling in an added garage bay. About 18" more than needed to fully raise the car (take down antenna though). You could probably squeak by with 9" and carefully stack two vettes, but that is measured to lowest point of the overhead door and rails. You should get a special hi lift door that uses a torsion spring and has the motor on the wall next to the door, not the usual over-the-middle-of the garage type.
My ceiling height is 9' 8", and I figured the minimum height to stack 2 C3's would be about 9'. Nothing less will work. Pardon my messy garage, pre-spring cleanup pic.
As mentioned, I did have to raise the door tracks so the door would raise close to the ceiling. I found the side mounted door openers to expensive and unnecessary so I passed on that. My original garage door opener positioned in the middle would work fine by adding one panel to the door or a bar the length of one panel so it would pivot at the right location. The actual door opener is forward of the car windshield so it isn't in the way. Just the bar running along the ceiling to the door.
