Default Advice for a new guy

Hello all,

I'm new to the forum and I am seeking advice from fellow vette owners. I have an 82 collectors edition that's original. It is silver biege. I was putting in a set of plugs the other day in my garage and decided the light wasn't good enough. I preceded to back out and before I realized I didn't have enough clearance for my open hood, I caught the corner of it on the garage overhead door. Pretty Dumb Huh? I now have a crack in the paint about the size of an egg that is pretty deep. It's in the corner where the hood closes on the cowl. I'm looking for advice on whether I should suck it up and get used to it to keep the car original or attempt to get it fixed. I'm afraid if I try to have it fixed and the paint doesn't match, it'll look worse than it does now. Comments or suggestions? THANKS.

don't worry - stuff happens - no one is hurt right ?

talk to a good paint, body man.

tell him you want this little prob matched perfect & you want to see a sample of his work before he starts on yers.

if he is good , he will have no prob with this request.

prepair to give him a good tip , when he is finished.

Don't beat yourself up. First time I put my 68 up on my new lift I forgot to take off the anntenae. Drove it right into the ceiling, snapped it right back into the rear deck of the car gouging out 3 spots on the paint Every time I walked in the garage I went right to the damage until I fixed it.

I would fix it. They can match your paint perfectly. Most of the paint suppliers/mixers can view the paint and match it exactly even though it may have aged. Just make sure you have a glass guy that knows what he is doing. The car will still be original for the most part and will look better. You won't have to keep thinking of it once it's fixed. Good luck
